Dorothy J. (Grimes) Shirk

Dorothy J. Shirk, 93, formerly of Shellsville passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Brookdale, Harrisburg.

Born July 1, 1928 in Hummelstown, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Bertha (Eckenroth) Grimes and also preceded in death by sister Caroline Fisher and brother Earl Grimes, Jr.

Retired from Sears in 1991, she was a former teacher’s aide at East Hanover Elementary School.  She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Grantville and the former Dauphin County Farm Women which later became the East Hanover Sewing Bees.

Surviving are her husband of 74 years Albert H. Shirk; children Richard A. Shirk (Cathy), Stephen H. Shirk (Paula), Michael E. Shirk, Randy E. Shirk (Mary) and Mary E. Martz (widow of Michael); and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 2, 2022 at her church, 165 Firehouse Road, Grantville preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM.  Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
