Doris L. (Bomgardner) Bennetch

Doris L. Bennetch, 88, of Palmyra passed away Monday, June 22, 2026 at her home.

Born May 18, 1938 in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Stella I. (Reese) Bomgardner and widow of Benjamin S. Bennetch since December 2009. Doris was also preceded in death by a grandson Jason D. Laurusevage and siblings Bernice Buchmoyer, Anna Kreiser, Alverta Hess, Ruth Risser, Ethel Rogers, Linda Witman, Erma Stump, Marion Zimmerman, Howard Bomgardner, Russell Bomgardner, Sr. and Lloyd Bomgardner, Sr.

Doris began her work life on the Bomgardner family farm in Palmyra, followed by working as a seamstress at several garment factories, a bus driver for the Lower Dauphin School district and then finally retiring from Tyco Electronics. Her hobbies included singing, roller skating (she met her husband Ben at the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink), golfing, crocheting, knitting, sewing and baking and she participated in many bowling leagues throughout the years. Her life was centered around family and faith! In her early years of marriage, she and Ben spent eight years as the caretakers of the historic Bindnagle Lutheran Church in Palmyra where she sang beautiful soprano in the choir. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Encounter Church of Palmyra where she enjoyed worshiping in song and hearing the Gospel. One of her biggest joys was hanging out with her siblings and their families as well as her own children, grandchildren and beyond.

Surviving are her children Darryl Bennetch (Lynne) of Chambers Hill, Brian Bennetch (Sarah) of Berea, Ohio, and Sherri Laurusevage (Mark) of Hershey; stepson Dale Bennetch (Rose) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; siblings Janice Boyer, Rita Price and William Bomgardner; grandchildren Elijah Bennetch (Ashley), Benjamin Bennetch (Emily), Keith Hartman (Jodi), Eric Hartman, Tara Ristau (Rick), James Bennetch (Whitney), Erica Moore (James), Sarah Grace Trowbridge (Daniel), Paul Bennetch (Emily), Philip Bennetch (Elizabeth), Heather Kellagher (fiancé Jamie Bres), Mark Laurusevage, Jr (Kristin), Joshua Crawford (Colleen) and Lauren Douden (Brandon); granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Laurusevage (widow of Jason); many great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Encounter Church of Palmyra, 220 Campbelltown Road, Palmyra on Friday, July 17, 2026. Visitation with family begins at 10:00 am, followed by services at 11:00 am and a luncheon reception immediately following the service.
