Doris J. (Calhoun) Grubb

Doris J. (Calhoun) Grubb, 85, of Palmyra, passed Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Born February 20, 1938 in Brockway, she was a daughter of the late Arden E. and Florence E. (Coder) Calhoun of Brockway and was also predeceased by a sister Lois E. Douglas.

A graduate of Brockway High School, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Clarion University and graduated from Marygrove College with a Master of Art in Teaching.  Doris was a teacher in Palmyra Area, Northern Lebanon, and Milton Hershey Schools.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served a term as president; traveled to Mexico with a DKG scholarship and presented highlights of the trip at the DKG State Convention in State College.  She hosted an Australian educator after traveling to Australia with an educational exchange group organized by the PA Department of Education.  Doris traveled to Ireland, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and enjoyed many Atlantic and Pacific cruises with her sister Ruth.  Her latest travel to the western states included rafting on the Snake River at age 75.  Doris was an accomplished equestrian who enjoyed riding and showing horses for many years.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years Carl L. Grubb; sons Brian, husband of Lynda of Hershey and Steven, husband of Amy of Hummelstown; grandchildren Nathan and Alyssa of Hershey and Logan and Conor of Hummelstown; and sister Ruth A. Shaffer of Virginia Beach.

Service will be at the convenience of the family.
