Doris Elizabeth (Ascencio) Teahl

Doris Elizabeth (Ascencio) Teahl, of Annville, passed away on September 20, 2024 at home. She was the wife of John L. Teahl, to whom she had been married for 34 years.

She was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, on December 4, 1959 to the late Angel Ascencio Paz of New York, NY and Isabel Ascensio (Barerra) of Lakeland, FL. She came to the US at the age of 14.

Doris worked at Penn State Hershey Medical Center as a housekeeper in the College of Medicine, ASK Foods in Palmyra, and Publix Bakery in Lakeland, FL. She was an industrious, hard worker and often worked several other jobs at the same time as the aforementioned locations.

She is survived by her husband, John, and 3 sons: Johnny L. Teahl, Jr., Annville; Harley M. Teahl (fiancée Kaeli Harry) Jonestown; and Austin T. Teahl (Caroline), Middletown. She is also survived by her siblings: David Ascencio (Judy), Lakeland, FL; Silvia De Leon (Luis), Lakeland, FL; Alexander Ascencio (Dina), Bethlehem, PA; Gina Rodriguez (Jonathan Frandsen), Las Vegas, NV; Edwin Ascencio (Monica), New York, NY; and Vladimir (Chito) Ascencio (Ricky Shorter), Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; a sister-in-law, Hilda Paz; and an “unofficially adopted” son, Collin Nye, Annville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father; an infant son, DJ Teahl; and a brother, Carlos Paz.

Her funeral service will be held at Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 710 South White Oak Street, Annville, PA 17003 on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM. A one hour visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, prior to the service. After a cremation, part of her remains will be spread on her deceased son, DJ’s, grave in Lakeland, FL.
