Charles T. Reddinger Obituary

Charles T. Reddinger, 74, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022.

 

Born July 4, 1947 in Lebanon, he was a son of the late John G. and Mary E. (Yeiser) Reddinger and also preceded in death by brother Bill Reddinger and sister Barbara Starner.

 

Charlie received his Master of Arts in Religion from Gettysburg Theological Seminary, retired as a counselor from Camp Hill Prison and was currently employed at Merakey and Genesis House, both of Harrisburg.  He was a member of SEIU Local 668 where he was chief shop steward, chair of Statewide Corrections Committee and served on the Statewide Executive Board.  An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Charlie was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

 

A member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, he currently attended Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Charlie was a volunteer at Camp Nawakwa for over 35 years, district representative for Aid Association of Lutherans, and former Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry at Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra and other local churches.  He was a former Troop Committee Chair for Boy Scout Troop 202, Chambers Hill and enjoyed gardening and photography.

 

Surviving are his wife of 15 years Karen E. Lingle; children C. Thomas Reddinger (Gerrie) of York Springs, Kristen M. Konisiewicz (John) of Chantilly, VA, David L. Smith (Tina) of West Hanover Township, and Susan E. Freidman (Brian) of Parkton, Maryland; sister Kathy Elliott of Lebanon; grandchildren Owen, Carter, Jonah, Lilly, Micah, Brooks, Dean, Lydia, and Baby Girl K.

 

A memorial service will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, 287 Shells Church Road, Grantville preceded by a visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.  Masks are required at the church.  Private interment, with military honors, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
