Charles G. "Sonny" Hyde, Jr.

Charles G. “Sonny” Hyde, Jr., 86, of East Hanover Township, Dauphin County passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Born February 26, 1939 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Charles G., Sr. and Ethel (Wilt) Hyde and also preceded in death by sister Lois Hoffman and brothers John, Gene, and Carl Hyde.

Retired from Hershey Foods, Sonny was also a drywaller and served in the Army National Guard 28th Infantry.  He was a member of Hanoverdale Church, Shellsville VFW, Blue Ridge Sportsman Club, and Blue Moon Cruisers and a lifetime member of the Fredericksburg American Legion, NRA, and North American Hunting Club.  Sonny was active in softball leagues, pool leagues, and horseshoe leagues.  A former coach for East Hanover Teener Baseball, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and boater.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years Carol L. (Miller) Hyde; children Albert Hyde (Rose), Donna Alleman (widow of Larry), Cynthia Keeney, and Terry Moyer (Merv); stepsons Edward Hine (Karen), Jeffrey Hine, and Garry Hine (Kim); sister Darlene Morris; grandchildren Jamie, Meghan, Jeremy, Chelsea, Justin, Eddie, and Jennifer; and numerous great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Hanoverdale Church, 577 Hershey Road, Hummelstown preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM.  Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
