Carl R. Umberger

Carl R. Umberger, 88, of Palmyra passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Born May 4, 1936 in Annville, he was the son of the late Jonas A. and Hazel V. (Custer) Umberger.  He was the widower of Margaret A. “Peg” Umberger since February 2016 and also preceded in death by daughter Kelly Highfield, granddaughter Stacy Dell and sister Barbara Smith.

The owner of the former Umberger’s Mobil Service Station, Palmyra and a transportation employee of Lower Dauphin School District for nine years, Carl retired with 30 years of service as Director of Garage Operations from Derry Township School District.  He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Grantville and served with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Surviving are his daughters Carlene Dell and Christy Umberger both of Harrisburg; sister Bonnie Saint Sing (Chuck); grandchildren Nicole Rodriquez and Derek Fisher; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at his church, 117 North Faith Road, Grantville.  Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
