Camille S. Tylden, retired social worker, died on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the age of 99 years in Cornwall, PA. Camille was formerly of Palmyra, PA.
She was born in Wahoo, Nebraska to the late Charles and Lucy (Hartman) Sturdevant and was reared in Wahpeton, North Dakota, where she attended public schools.
A graduate of both the State School of Science, Wahpeton, and the University of North Dakota, Ms. Tylden later attended the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. A Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Louisville followed.
Ms. Tylden was a charter member of the National Association of Psychiatric Social Worker’s, and a former president of the Lehigh Valley Chapter.
In 1985 Ms. Tylden retired from the Veteran’s Hospital, Lebanon, PA.
Ms. Tylden was an avid reader, news junkie and traveled around the world and wished everyone could visit the Grand Canyon. She loved flowers and visits from her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Tylden, and is survived by several nieces and nephews in the East and Midwest and a goddaughter in Virginia.
In accordance with the wishes of Ms. Tylden there will be no funeral or memorial service. There will be a gathering for friends and family on a date and time to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the charity of their choice.
