Betty Jeanne Stump, 92, of Hershey, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020.
Born September 16, 1927 in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Anna (Mohler) Ennis and also preceded in death by a son James in 1991.
Surviving are her husband of 71 years Carl; daughter Lois Ann Shaffer of Millersville, Maryland; sons Glenn of Raleigh, North Carolina and Theodore of Arlington, Virginia; sister Nancy Shuman of Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Betty was a graduate of Shillington High School, Berks County in 1945, Hershey Junior College in 1947 and Penn State University in 1949. After living in Mechanicsburg until 1956, she and her husband Carl settled in Hershey. Betty was a substitute teacher in local schools and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she worked with the mission quilters group. The editor of the first Derry Township informational booklet published by the League of Women Voters, she was also the editor of the 1976 Derry Township Bicentennial Book. Betty and Carl developed historical slide programs to share with community groups.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 17, 2020 at her church, 212 Cocoa Avenue, Hershey followed by a time of fellowship. Private interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
