Barry E. Enck, 90, formerly of Palmyra passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Cedar Haven, Lebanon.
Born August 23, 1932 in Akron, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Paul and Florence (Yost) Enck. After 64 years of marriage, he was the widower of Irene R. “Cookie” (Berger) Enck since January 2018 and also preceded in death by granddaughter Taryn Enck and sister Beverly Matier.
Barry retired as President of Arnold Transportation after many years of service. In his faith, he used his musical gifts to sing in and direct various church choirs including First United Methodist Church, Palmyra. Barry was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and member of the Air Force Band, Palmyra V. F. W. and American Legion. He played his clarinet at many events with various groups such as the Rheingold Band. In addition to music, Barry enjoyed boating, beaching, traveling and time at the Cabin House with friends and family. He was a devoted husband and father and loving Pop Pop to his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Surviving are his children Douglas, husband of Patricia Enck of Mechanicsburg, Melissa, wife of Keith Woomer of Bethany Beach, Delaware, Brigham, husband of Catherine Enck of Montauk, New York and Christine Enck of Palmyra; sisters Darlene King and Brenda Roach; grandchildren Heather Enck, Nathan Enck, Tristan Enck, Brandon Wert, Meaghan Goga, Nicole Garrity, Collin Woomer, Nicholas Woomer, Abigail McCorkel, Amanda Feta, Anderson Hollenbach, and Megan Herlihy; and great grandchildren Isabella, Giavonni, Ainsley, Rory, Madison, Jacob, Collin, Jr., Mia, Hadley, Brooks, Claire, Aaliyah, and Vincent.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his church, 520 East Birch Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
