Anthony R. Loy, 77, of Harrisburg passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Born October 9, 1946 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Walter E., Sr. and Anna (Mumma) Loy and also preceded in death by siblings Annamarie Schmidt and Walter Loy, Jr.
Retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in various Bureaus and the Office of Medical Assistance for 36 years. He was a 1964 graduate of Palmyra High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College, Allentown in 1968 and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. When his boys were young, he coached little league baseball and was a cubmaster for seven years in the Colonial Park Area. Even though he’s had heart disease since 1993 and Type I Diabetes since 1964, Tony was always active and upbeat, never bored and busy with various hobbies. He enjoyed traveling extensively in the USA and Europe, reading, conspiracy theories, UFOs, cars, convertible rides, all levels of football and baseball, as well as the Hershey Theatre and Harrisburg Symphony Pops.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years Susan L. (Lazorjack) Loy; sons Andrew Loy of Harrisburg and Nicholas Loy (Aida) of Temple, Texas; twin sister Amalie Gingrich; sister Sandy Summy (Howard); brother Kevin Loy (Susan); and grandchildren Adrianna Loy and Adam Loy.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his church, 4768 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg with interment in Shells Cemetery, Grantville. Viewings 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Wednesday both at the church.
