Alexandor “Sandor” Horvath, 85, of Grantville passed away January 14, 2026 at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Hungary in 1940, the only child of Terezia (nee Jonas, Born 1914) and Sandor Horvath (Born 1910) he immigrated to the United States with them in 1956. His parents became successful restaurant owners first in Washington, DC, followed by New York and Florida, where they retired. His father’s love of betting on horses would later lead to Sandor’s self-made career in thoroughbred horse racing. Sandor met his wife Margeret (nee Brindle, 1939-2022) in an Arthur Murray dance class in their 20’s and married in 1964 in Maryland, where together they established their first thoroughbred racing farm. The couple cared deeply for their horses as owners and trainers over their 58 years of marriage. Sandor was on the forefront of equine water therapy and training, having constructed an equine pool at his Maryland farm and again at Sandomar Equine Training Center in Grantville, PA. Friends will remember Sandor for his love of animals, countless horse stories, sound horse and stock market advice, and unique humor.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Manada Conservancy.
