Albert H. Shirk, 100, formerly of Shellsville passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at The Middletown Home, Middletown.
Born November 22, 1922 in Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Edwin and Mary (Herr) Shirk and widower of Dorothy J. (Grimes) Shirk since June 2022, after 74 years of marriage. He was the last surviving of his immediate family, being preceded in death by brothers Arthur and David and sisters Alma, Mabel, Margaret, Hilda, Lillian, Frances, and Janice.
Retired from Olin Miller, Hummelstown, he previously worked for the former Farm Bureau and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having served in Japan as a lineman in 1945-1946. Albert was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Grantville and lifetime member of the Shellsville VFW Post #9639.
Surviving are his children Richard A. Shirk (Cathy), Stephen H. Shirk (widower of Paula), Michael E. Shirk, Randy E. Shirk (Mary) and Mary E. Martz (widow of Michael); and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Buse Funeral Home, 9066 Jonestown Road, Grantville preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
