Adele Gruber Sherwood, age 96, of Palmyra passed away peacefully on May 10, 2022 at Londonderry Village in Palmyra.
Born June 15, 1925, in Manhattan, New York, Adele was the daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Weinberg) Gruber.
She graduated in 1943 from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, NY. Adele was a homemaker that enjoyed cooking, entertaining and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas R Sherwood. After retirement, Adele and Tom moved to Bayonet Point, Florida. They enjoyed traveling, spring training baseball games, and she was always ready to play a card game, whether it be canasta, pinochle, sevens or Back Alley Bridge.
Adele is survived by her three sons, Thomas of Beaufort, SC, Richard (Sondra) of Palmyra, Neil (Christine) of Green Valley, AZ; six grandchildren, Scott Sherwood (Jamie) of Palmyra, Chris Sherwood (Melissa) of Palmyra, Dana Dion (Mark) of Copake, NY, Russell Sherwood (Alexandra) of Zurich, Matthew Sherwood (Lacey) of Scottsdale, AZ, Alyssa Arland (Tom) of Prescott, AZ; four great grandchildren, Rylee Sherwood, Fairfield Sherwood Dion, Aidan Sherwood, Jacob Wagner; sister in law, Virginia Sherwood; former daughters in law, Ethel Sherwood and Janna Sherwood; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 9:30 AM Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation from 8:30 AM. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
