Robert C. Early

Robert C. Early, 95, formerly of Hummelstown passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Frey Village, Middletown. 

Born June 12, 1923 in Swatara Township, Dauphin County, he was a son of the late Miles R., Sr. and Alma E. (Yohn) Early.  The widower of Marianne N. (Klingler) Early since January 2009, he was also preceded in death by siblings Miles R. Early, Jr., John W. Early, Josephine M. Smith and Naomi J. Early.

Retired as a construction engineer and self-employed landscape nurseryman, he was a graduate of Penn State University with a Masters in Forestry and Wildlife Management, attended Mont Alto Forestry School and was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.  A member of the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania, Bob had 270 bluebird boxes in the townships surrounding Hummelstown and was Bluebirder of the Year in 2008.  His memberships included the North American Bluebird Society, Derry Township Parks and Recreation where he was a volunteer from 1983 to 1991, the Arbor Day Foundation, a member and volunteer for the Hershey Library and was a charter member of the Susquehanna Orchid Society.  He was former member of the Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, Hummelstown American Legion, Hummelstown V. F. W. and the Sons of the American Legion Firing Squad. 

Surviving are his children Michael R. Early, Thomas W. Early, Glenn A. Early, Donald C. Early, Patricia A. Early and Robert J. Early; five grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

A visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2018 at Buse Funeral Home, 2 East Main Street, Hummelstown.  Interment, with military honors, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
