Ralph J. Keller Obituary

Ralph J. Keller, 82, former Hershey Bears defenseman died comfortably on March 8, 2018 at 5:50 AM in Lebanon.

 

Born February 6, 1936 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, he was a son of the late Edward and Johanna (Sander) Keller.

 

Owner and operator of the former Raphael’s Beauty Salon in Hershey, he was an avid golfer and member of the Freemasons, Shriners International, Knights of Columbus, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey where he sang in the choir.  Ralph played for the Hershey Bears from 1963 – 1974 during which time he was named captain and won the Calder Cup in the 1968-69 and 1973-74 seasons.  He was inducted into the Hershey Bears Hockey Club Hall of Fame in 2012 and the AHL Hall of Fame in 2016.

 

Surviving are his children Rick, Duane, Johanna, and Jonathan; grandchildren Rafe, Evan, Emma, Justin, and Chad; siblings Maggie, Lizzie, and Adam (former Providence Reds hockey player); numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hershey Junior Bears, Hersheypark Arena, 100 West Hersheypark Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
