Welcome to the memorial page for

Philip H. Huepenbecker

May 5, 1934 ~ October 21, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

A larger than life individual, Philip Henry Huepenbecker, 83, peacefully entered his Heavenly home on October 21, 2017, held by his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara Ann Huepenbecker.

With residence in both Fort Myers Beach, Florida and Harrisburg Pennsylvania, he was born on May 5, 1934, in Battle Creek, Michigan, son of the late Henry and Rosalie (Anway) Huepenbecker.

After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Packaging engineering, Phil was employed by General Foods in Battle Creek, MI.  He married Camilla Prestidge of Marshall, MI and they brought three children into the world.  Schick Safety Razor recruited Phil and transferred him and his family to Amsterdam, Netherlands and Brussels, Belgium.  Paris, Rome, and Athens were some of his favorite vacation places to visit while in Europe.

After returning to the United States in the early 1970s, Phil started a small startup printing franchise called Sir Speedy, where he built the business into four locations, two of which were top 10s.

As a business owner, Phil played an important role in many people's lives.  Employees have commented on his impact by making the following comments: "he was a great man”, “he was a great mentor", "he was kind", and "he was an amazing man for which I had great respect; he was a great teacher.”  One past employee said the following, "I have only the fondest memories of Phil. He was a one-of-a kind employer and treated all of us (employees) as his own children.”

Always an advocate for Boy Scouts, Phil was an Eagle Scout himself and a Boy Scout leader over a 30-year period including leading boy scouts abroad.

Often called a man of God, he was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Grantville, PA and Faith United Methodist, Fort Myers, FL.

After Phil and Camilla divorced, Phil married Barbara Ann (Hoffacker) in 1980. His family grew by two more as they blended their families.

Impacting his family was always important to Phil.  He was a kind and loving father to: Mark Huepenbecker of Harrisburg, PA; Wendolyn “Wendy” wife of Bill Hewitt of York, PA; Mary wife of Fred Kohler of Lancaster, PA; Deann wife of Tyler "Shake" Spitler of Grantville, PA; and John husband of Lisa Huepenbecker of Pittsboro, NC; and an adored grandfather/Papa to: Brandon husband of Gina Hewitt; Cody Spitler; Kylie Hewitt fiancé of Zac Chew; Katelyn Elliott; Christopher Huepenbecker; and Chandler Elliott; a beloved brother to Janet Powell of Cary, NC; and a constant friend of his former wife, Camilla Huepenbecker of Lancaster, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday November 4, 2017, at his church, St. John's United Methodist Church, 165 Firehouse Road, Grantville, preceded by a visitation beginning at 12:30 PM.  Interment will be at Grantville Cemetery.
