Pastor James A. Ober, 82, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra went into the presence of his Lord Friday, July 20, 2018.
Born August 27, 1935 in Mount Joy Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Paris P. and Kathryn E. (Raffensperger) Ober and was also preceded in death by siblings Paul Ober, Rachel Ober and Lois Hays.
Pastor Ober retired with over 50 years in the ministry. Jim had an active ministry in the early 1960’s at Word of Life Chapel, Bainbridge and was interim at the chapel for 3.5 years after his 2005 retirement. In 1965, he moved to the Campbelltown Bible Church which was relocated and renamed Lebanon Valley Bible Church in 1976, after church growth. He taught the Scofield Bible Class to the community for 30 years, was a faithful supporter of world missions and served on several mission boards. A graduate of East Donegal High School, Jim received an Adult Bible Study Certificate from the Moody Bible Institute in 1998.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years Jessie R. (Gonter) Ober; children Ann L., wife of Edward H. Eifert of Elizabethtown, John P. Ober of Annville, David A., husband of Beth A. Ober of Annville and Nathan M. Ober of Campbelltown; siblings Stanley M., husband of Arlene Ober and Mary Ellen, wife of Allan Haak; thirteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held 5:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2018 at his church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon. Saturday at 11:00 AM a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Lebanon Valley Bible Church. Private interment in West Green Tree Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
