Nellie A. (Smith) Sipe

Nellie A. (Smith) Sipe, 89, of South Hanover Township, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.

Born March 2, 1928 in Swatara Township, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mamie (Weidner) Smith and was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

A retired Registered Nurse for the PA Department of Health and Welfare, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Union Deposit and treasurer of Zion Women.  She was an executive board member of AFSCME RPEP Subchapter 9001 and a member of Shellsville V. F. W. #9639 Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years Roy L. Sipe; children James Sipe (Deborah), Dennis Sipe (Patricia), Kenneth Sipe (Karen), Wendy Haucke, Jeffrey Sipe and Susan Sipe; sister Maggie Blanch; grandchildren Viki, Adriane (Bill), Michele (Ryan), Laura, Ashley (Liz), Sean (Annissa), Samuel, Otto and Avery; and great grandchildren Chloe, Sofie, Brian, Allison, Sean M., and Joseph USMC. 

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at her church, 5 West Main Street; Hershey.  Viewings will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Buse Funeral Home, 2 East Main Street, Hummelstown and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church.  Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
