Mildred A. Gustafson, 94, of Hershey went to her Father’s House Monday, May 7, 2018.
Born November 11, 1923 in Barron, Wisconsin, she was a daughter of the late Carl G. and Cecilia (Peterson) Swan. On July 25, 1942, she married her husband of 74 years, Rev. Dr. Robert G. Gustafson of Belvidere, Illinois and was widowed on March 9, 2017.
Mildred was educated in a one room country school and the Barron, WI high school. She attended Moody Bible College night school in Chicago, IL while her husband was serving in India during WWII.
Mildred's spiritual education was centered in her Christian home. She was baptized as a public statement of her faith in Jesus Christ, who she loved and served her whole life. She was an active member of the Hershey Evangelical Free Church and loved her church family. They have been faithful friends and helpers.
Mildred was gifted in financial matters and worked in this field. Her work history included National Lock Co, Rockford, IL where she met her husband; Federal Reserve, US Government, Chicago while Robert was in India; International Mineral & Chemical, Glenview, IL; and Kepner-Trego, Princeton, NJ where she worked for 23 years as the head of accounts receivable.
The Gustafsons have three children, Donna M. of Princeton, NJ, David P., husband of Kuki of Oakland, CA, and Bruce D., husband of Debbie of Stockton, NJ; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA preceded by a visitation from 9:30 AM. Private interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
