Michael Terence Kenney, 71, of Lower Paxton Township and formerly of Grantville, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Born March 6, 1947 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John Terence and Janet Louise (Schenck) Kenney.
Michael received an associate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine in 1981. In 1985 he completed the US Army Engineer Officer Advanced Course, and in 1994 received his baccalaureate degree in history from the State University of New York. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with over 27 years of service as a helicopter pilot and instructor with the US Army and National Guard, and later worked for Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
As a craftsman and woodworker, Michael loved building reproduction furniture. He took particular joy in spending time with his family while vacationing at a cabin that he lovingly built in the woods of Maine. He was an avid reader and a lifelong student of history and the sciences.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years Susan Bates Kenney; daughters Michele K., wife of Jonathan Spremich and their children Garrick and Cecily of Novato, California and Laura B. Kenney of Grantville; brother William J. Kenney, husband of Ellen Gronlie and their son Sam Kenney of Dixmont, Maine.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
