Marshall Sterling Goulding

Marshall Sterling Goulding, 88, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra and formerly of Hershey, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at home.

 

Born August 16, 1928 in Greensburg, he was a son of the late Marshall S., Sr. and Wanda (Keracher) Goulding and also preceded in death by his sister Anna Jean McCombe and a granddaughter Kelly Keller.

 

Retired chief engineer from the Susquehanna River Basin Commission, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Fishburn United Methodist Church, American Society of Civil Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and Experimental Aircraft Association. A graduate of Bucknell University (BS ‘52, MS ’57), he was a member of the wrestling team and president of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was past commander of the Hershey American Legion, past president of Hershey Baseball Association and formerly active in the Hershey Optimist Club, Hershey Italian Lodge, and many community organizations. Marshall played at several local golf clubs, including Deer Valley, Parkview and was head marshal at the Lady Keystone Open. In addition to golf, he enjoyed hunting and flying his own airplane.

 

Surviving are his wife of 56 years June I. (Nulf) Goulding; children Janice Morrow of Harrisburg, Denise Green of Lebanon, Shelley Goulding, wife of Mike Fitzmaurice of Seattle, Washington, and Larry, husband of Reah Goulding of Hummelstown; brother John William Goulding of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother-in-law David McCombe of Timonium, Maryland; grandchildren Jason, husband of Stephanie Morrow, Dana, wife of Ray Rowles, Joshua, husband of Kelly Green, Kevin Garinger, Kurt, husband of Julie Garinger, and Phillip Goulding; grandson-in-law Dave Keller; and twelve great grandchildren.

 

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his church, 1215 Fishburn Road, Hershey preceded by a visitation beginning at 2:00 PM.
