Margaret Louise (Hess) Shank

Margaret Louise Hess Shank, 89, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Athens, GA.

Mrs. Shank was born on April 27, 1929 in Middletown, PA and has lived in Warner Robins, Georgia since 1966.  She was the daughter of the late Carl Christian Hess and Margaret Pearl Noel Hess. She graduated from Middletown High School and became a Registered Nurse. She married Ralph Shank on April 8, 1950.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Ralph Shank; sons: Stephen Shank and Timothy Shank; sisters: Dot Huffman and Ruth Adams; and brother: Harold Hess.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children: Cindy Elkins (Jim) of Watkinsville, GA, Susan Taylor (Van) of Calhoun, GA and Jonathan Shank of Hawkinsville, GA; sister: Nancy Kohlstruk (Ernie) of Mechanicsburg, PA; grandchildren: Christopher Elkins (Samantha), Becky Holder (Blaine), Maggie Taylor, Jenni Taylor and Hope Taylor; great grandchildren: Tabitha Elkins, Levi Elkins, Luke Elkins, Olivia Holder and Paisley Holland; very special nieces and nephews; and other extended family and loving friends.

Ma, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, will be remembered for pointing others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and her most loyal support of her family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 18, 2019 in Hershey Cemetery with Pastor Christopher Elkins officiating.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
