Judy Koskela Obituary

Judy A. Koskela, 63, of Elizabethtown was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus, on Friday, March 2, 2018 following her courageous two-year battle with Ocular Melanoma. Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Emma (Reigel) Klugh. She was the loving and devoted wife of Craig S. Koskela for nearly 18 years.

Judy was employed by Norlanco Family Medicine (LGH) in Elizabethtown for 44 years as a Medical Transcriptionist and Customer Service Specialist. She also really enjoyed working part-time for many years at Watt & Shand and BonTon as a gift wrapper. She was a member of the Hershey Free Church where she served the Lord in leadership of singles and couples ministries and support groups. She also enjoyed being part of the church welcome team.

Judy was deeply committed to her faith to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. During the two-year journey with her illness, she shared how much she grew in the Lord in her faith and trust in Him and His sovereign plan for our lives. She was very open about sharing her faith with those around her including the many caregivers that she came in contact with.

Judy was an avid walker and belonged to the Volksmarch Walking Club. She really enjoyed walking the 6-mile trails in Pennsylvania and surrounding states with friends, her husband, or on her own. She and Craig took numerous overnight trips to go on these walks in scenic locations. She eagerly participated in Zumba and water aerobic exercise classes. Judy was an enthusiastic lover of both Christian and secular music. Her radio or CD player was always on. Music brought her much encouragement, joy, and energy.

Judy was passionate about sending greeting cards. She creatively expressed herself by decorating the cards with stickers that were especially selected for the recipient. Judy loved to read and frequented the local library and bookstores. She really enjoyed the annual vacation trips with Craig to bask in the sun and sand of Ocean City, Maryland. Judy had annual subscriptions to the plays at both the Fulton and Hershey Theaters. She also enjoyed going to the movies. Judy gave back to the community by regularly donating blood for many years.

Judy will be deeply and passionately missed by her devoted and loving husband, Craig S. Koskela; sister, Pat Lohr, of New Holland; sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Sharon (Koskela) Rentz, and her husband, John, of Lititz; nieces and nephews, Brian (Mallory) Gunzenhauser, Beth Gunzenhauser, Michelle (Devon) Wolf, and Tim Rentz, and her dear church family and friends.
