Joyce Levan Leinbach

Joyce Levan Leinbach, 86, of Palmyra, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

Born March 27, 1931 in Reading, PA she was the daughter of the late William P. and E. Grace (Paulsgrove) Levan and was also preceded in death by siblings Herbert Levan, Llewellyn Levan and Lois Potteiger.

A former employee of Bell Telephone and Pomeroy’s, in Reading, PA, she was a member of the First Evangelical Congregational Church, Palmyra and completed the Scofield Bible Course taught by Rev. James Ober.  She was a longtime volunteer for Salvation Army and Lebanon VA Medical Center.  She and her husband enjoyed sailing their boat on the Chesapeake Bay and Intracoastal Waterway visiting many points of interest from Maryland to Florida. They also enjoyed a road trip from Pennsylvania to California going the southern route out and returning home the northern route.  The family always enjoyed annual camping trips to the shore with their boat in tow.  Fishing, clamming, crabbing and late night campfires were always the family entertainment.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years Gerald E. Leinbach; daughters Denise J. Leinbach of Sharon Springs, NY, Jill I., wife of John Whitehead of Annville, PA, and Carole G. Leinbach of Tavernier, FL; sister Cynthia Greenawalt of Reading; grandchildren Kimberly J., wife of Mark Brownell of Buskirk, NY and Shane E., husband of Bonnie Whitehead of Austin, TX; and great grandchildren Wesley C. and Evelyn G. Brownell.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 8, 2017 at her church, 55 West Main Street, Palmyra.  Visitation will be held 5:30 - 7:00 PM, Sunday and 10:00 AM Monday prior to service, both at the church.    Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at the convenience of the family.
