John Grant “Jack” Hummer, III, 76, of The Gardens at Campbelltown, Palmyra passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018.
Born February 21, 1941 in Dauphin County, he was a son of the late John Grant Hummer, II and Helen Esther (Schoffstall) Hummer who owned the former Hummer Donut Shop, Lebanon. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Hurst of Lancaster, brother Dale Hummer of North Carolina and sister Audrey Whitehead of Lititz.
He retired as a professional truck driver, and enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, visiting Graceland and putting puzzles together and framing them. The Phillies and Cowboys were Jack’s favorite sports teams.
Surviving are his daughters Deborah Strohm of Lebanon, Sharon, wife of Kevin Baliles of Edgewater, Maryland, Ginny (Marc) O’Neil of Lebanon and Pamela Hill of Philadelphia; longtime companion Pat McCorkle of Hershey; sister Brenda Lehman of Palmyra; son-in-law Mitch Hurst (widower of Cynthia) of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 165 Firehouse Road, Grantville, PA 17028 preceded by a viewing beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in adjoining Grantville Cemetery.
