Jeffrey Alan Keiter, 70, of Mt. Gretna, passed away peacefully in his home on December 2, 2017.

Jeff served the community as a lawyer for over 40 years. He was known for his sharp legal mind, his positive attitude and his commitment to social justice. Jeff shared a loving relationship with his wife Mary Collins. Together they created a supportive and stimulating environment for the four children of their merged union. Jeff was a boisterously amusing man who brought a sense of humor into all he did. He was a student of life, full of both intellectual curiosity and the desire to experience many things.  He was an avid reader and a gifted musician, playing piano, clarinet and guitar. He took pleasure in jamming with his sons and their friends. Jeff shared many other interests with his friends and family. He enjoyed skiing, tennis and golf? He liked dancing, hiking, canoeing, fly fishing, motorcycle riding and sailing. Mary introduced Jeff to horseback riding, which they enjoyed together. Jeff spent many hours training and riding his horse, Judge, and he also taught his friends and family to ride so they could accompany him on the trails. The beautiful surroundings in Mt. Gretna provided Jeff with hours of enjoyment. He appreciated the trails, the trees, the water and particularly the birds, which he fed and observed every day. Jeff loved animal of all kinds, but especially his best boy Frank, the boxer mix who accompanied him everywhere.

Jeff was the son of the late Dr. James and Lois Johns Keiter.  He was the husband of Mary Collins and the father, step father, father-in-law and father figure to Megan Keiter, Wes Hornig, Tom Keiter, Gail Young, Stacey Heiner, Jason Euganeo, Chris Heiner and Yajaira Sanchez. Jeff was the brother of Barbara, Joan and Carol Keiter. He was blessed with many friends including but not limited to Sharon Kodosky, Jim Laudermilch, Ned Gibble, and Steve Lindenberg who shared life, love and laughter with Jeff, both before and after cancer.

Jeff will be most remembered for being smart, funny and kind.
