Harry M. Smith, 87, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at home.
Born December 10, 1931 in Annville, he was the youngest and last surviving of eight children to the late Harry A. and Cora V. (Miller) Smith. He was the widower of Esther M. (Wampler) Smith since July 1, 1997.
Retired from Hershey Chocolate Company, he was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren. Harry Smith, or Papa, was a unique, one-of-a-kind man, and he will be greatly missed by many. Overflowing with quirky wit and wisdom that grew from a life filled with perseverance, he symbolized the strong roots of a family tree. He will be forever remembered for his charisma and compassion, as well as his gentle friendliness and genuine kindness.
Surviving are his daughters Kathleen M., widow of David Bradley of Palmyra and Sally A., wife of Thomas L. Dunleavy of Grantville; grandchildren Alison S. Dunleavy Guerino, wife of Alex Guerino, Erin E., wife of Stanley Manifold, Natalie S., wife of Nathan Burchfiel and Thomas L. Dunleavy, Jr.; great grandchildren Aria G. Manifold, James L. Burchfiel and Rowan H. Manifold.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 14, 2019 at his church, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM. Interment in South Annville Cemetery.
