Elsie L. Hays, 79, of Palmyra passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 in WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
Born February 9, 1939 in Reed Township, Cambria County, she was a daughter of the late George Gilbert and Sarah Esther (Glass) Hollen. She was the widow of Rev. James Edward Hays since May 1, 2017 and was also preceded in death by siblings Richard Hollen, Madeline Hollen, Marian Adams, Catherine Hollen, Charlotte Kruis and Alma Gray.
A member of Palmyra Assembly of God Church, she was the assistant director of the Day Care Center at the church. Her life revolved around her family, supporting her husband’s ministry and ministering to children.
Surviving are her children James D., husband of Judy Hays of Palmyra and Diane L., wife of Robert Hall of Palmyra; siblings Edwin Hollen of Minnesota, Dorothy Korman of Altoona, Ellsworth Hollen of Middletown, Jerry Hollen of Palmyra and Paul Hollen of Altoona; grandchildren Jessica Miller, Jaclyn, wife of Steve Cooper, Danielle Schultz, Jacob Schultz and Nina Schultz; great grandchildren Peyton Miller, Alexis Miller, Jonah Cooper, Simon Cooper, and Brayden Marx; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 30, 2018 at Palmyra Assembly of God Church, 1384 Park Drive, Palmyra. Viewings will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Friday both at the church. Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
