Dorothy L. (Lilly) Suchy

Dorothy L. Suchy, 89, of Palmyra, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the home of her daughter.

Born December 31, 1927 in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Silock) Lilly.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emil L. Suchy, her son, David G. Suchy and her sister, Dolores Segilia.

A member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Palmyra, she was an active participant in church activities for many years.  She participated in the choir, taught religious education classes, helped to run the kitchen for the annual festivals and was known for the many pies that she baked for the festivals, fish fries and holiday bazaars.  She was an active member of the church’s Senior Spirit group and the bereavement support group.

Dorothy retired from H. B. Reese Candy Company in 1982.  Throughout her work life, she worked in radio tube manufacturing, sewing factories and the former King Kup factory in Hershey.  In addition to being an avid baker, she loved to play bingo, read, sew and crochet.

Surviving are her children, Gary, husband of Shirley Suchy of Palmyra, Karen, wife of John M. Neiswender of Palmyra, Lori Richards of Lebanon and Brian Suchy of Enola; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Bernice Sabo of Suwanee, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend James F. Podlesny at 11:00 AM Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra with interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Viewings 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Friday at the church.  Recitation of the rosary will be at 5:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Holy Spirit Building Fund, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.
