Clarence R. Hess, 89, of Grantville passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 in Country Meadows of Hershey.
Born July 31, 1927 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Edwin C. and Bertha M. (Geesaman) Hess. He was the widower of C. Louise (Barr) Hess and Eleanor B. (Brandt) Hess and was also preceded in death by siblings Herman Hess, Florence Folk, Marlin Hess and Ruth Rhoads.
Retired from Hershey Chocolate Corporation, he was a dairy farmer and had numerous other jobs throughout his life as well as being a handyman for everyone. He attended Hanoverdale Church, was a member of Liberty University Legacy Society and U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He loved nature, the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Surviving are his children Ronald E., husband of Darleen Hess of Grantville, Steven L., husband of Deanna Hess of Oregon and Cynthia M., wife of Ken Peric of Grantville; sister Evelyn M. “Dolly”, wife of Stephen Knouse of Hummelstown; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Ethel, widow of Herman Hess of Hummelstown.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 16, 2017 at Faith United Church of Christ, 117 North Faith Road, Grantville preceded by a viewing beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will be in Hanoverdale Cemetery.
