On Friday, November 2, 2018 Barbara P. Hallgren (Bilger) went to be with the Lord in her 80th year. She was born in Black Log, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1938 to the late Fred M. Bilger and Mary L. Bilger (McCrory). She lived in Juniata and Huntington counties throughout her school years along with her eight brothers and sisters all of whom survive her now – James, Dennis, John, Ruth, Nellie, Lee, Joyce, and Carl.
Barbara as a young adult moved to Harrisburg, where she met her husband the late J. Robert Hallgren. They lived out their American dream raising three children Cheryl L., Esther M. (married to Carl Arndt), and Roger F. in several towns in Dauphin and Lancaster counties.
Barbara was an early member of the Elizabethtown Grace Brethren Church. She was usually found in the nursery where she could do one of her favorite things caring for infants. She was also very active in social and mission activities.
After the passing of her husband in 1996, she focused her life on her three granddaughters Shannon, Tiffany, and JoAnn (married to Alex Achenbach) and enjoying the slower pace of life.
Barbara will always be remembered by those who knew her as a woman of strength and conviction with an occasional sense of humor. Her heart goes out to all her friends and family who are reading this now.
Special thanks to the Palmyra Grace Church and many people there over the years and also the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, where she lived out her final years. Special thanks to all the caregivers and workers in Roosevelt 3. She enjoyed many activities there, especially BINGO!
We’ll always love you Mom!
