William R. Hess, 85, of Hershey, Pennsylvania passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born April 6, 1932 in Delano, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late John E. and Helen (Shimko) Hess. He was the widower of Arlene (Kramer) Hess and also preceded in death by brothers Bruce and John Hess.
He was a retired pastor, having served at the Berkeley Springs Church of the Nazarene in West Virginia, Hanover Evangelical Christian Church and Carlisle Church of the Nazarene. Prior to pastoring, he was a business teacher before becoming Budget Director for the Frederick County Board of Education, Maryland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Wisconsin during the Korean War and attended Grace and Truth Bible Church. He loved singing, wood working, and reading, but more than anything he loved his family.
Surviving are his wife Kathleen J. (Shott) Kramer Hess; children Brenda (Phil) Morse, William (Mary Nell) Hess, Jr., Chip Hess, Jodie (David) Kramer Wolfe, Gregory (Larissa) Kramer, and Kevin Kramer; siblings Vivian (Sterling) Noecker, Merrill (TM) Hess, and Joyce (Forrest) Weitzel; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Grace and Truth Bible Church, 410 Pleasant View Road, Hummelstown preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM. Private interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown, Pennsylvania.
