Having been a reporter and a columnist for close to 40 years, I've met and interviewed a lot of people. Sadly, I don't remember most of them. But Vi was different. The time I spent with her is etched in my memory because she was so vibrant and so much fun. I'm sorry she's gone, but she was someone who made the most of her time on earth. Lovely lady.

My Mother, Joan E. Hibner of Bethany Towers, Mechanicsburg and I have been blessed to be among those who Vi called "friend." I first met Vi as I was moving boxes & smaller items into my Mother's apartment for two weeks prior to her move-in date. Vi saw me in the hall, cheerily introduced herself with a smile, said "Welcome" and to tell my mother to let her know if we ever need anything. That proved to be the beginning of an over 7-year friendship, which also led to our becoming friends with her daughter, Susan who is just as sweet & kind as her Mother. Vi put her heart & soul into everything she did, pouring her many talents into helping others and making their lives brighter. The Calendar Girls project resulted in the purchase of a handicapped van for Bethany Towers residents, and more, because the sales far exceeded expectations. Vi will surely be missed by many, but I hope her kindness & labor of love will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched, and they will pass it along. She truly was an inspiration to all who knew her, and I feel certain when she met her Jesus, He had a smile on His face and said "Welcome!"
