Samuel B. Aurand Jr., 82, of Derry Township went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 15, 2016.
Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Samuel B. Aurand, Sr. and Katherine (Nyman) Aurand Henry.
Sam retired as an engineer and metrologist from DuPont Company (formerly Berg Electronics) after 27 years. He was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Church in Elizabethtown where he ran the sound system for 40 years and was active with the Rest Home Ministry where he played his saxophone. A United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Marine Corp League of Hummelstown, Disabled Veterans of Hershey, and the Purple Heart Association of Palmyra.
Surviving are his wife Dolores (Bomgardner) Aurand of 60 years; children Rick, husband of Cindy Aurand and Dawn, wife of Jonathan Duckett; grandchildren Lauren, wife of Kevin Lezon, Andrew, husband of Jamie Duckett, Kaley Aurand, Kristen Aurand, and Kyle Aurand; ten great grandchildren; and sisters Irma Davis, Gloria Condran, Martha Anne Costik, and Kathy Burkholder.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at his church, 625 Holly Street, Elizabethtown preceded by a visitation beginning at 4:00 PM. Private interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
