Melvyn R. Bowman, 94, of Palmyra passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.

 

Born March 28, 1923 in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Michael and Edna (Klopp) Bowman, the widower of Anna I. (Kurtz) Bowman since November 2010 and also preceded in death by his sister Grace Hilda O’Brein.

 

He was a retired Certified Public Account and partner of the former Main and Lafrantz, Harrisburg and past president of Horsemen Benevolent and Protective Association.  A First Lieutenant of the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he was a former member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club and Trinity United Church of Christ all of Palmyra.

 

Surviving are his children Thomas, husband of Victoria Bowman of Grantville and Kathleen, wife of John Kline of Palmyra; brothers John Bowman, Howard Bowman and David Bowman all of Palmyra; grandchildren Jennie Bowman and Christopher Zserai; and great grandchildren Cassandra Tipa-Bowman and Emily Zserai.

 

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation beginning at 2:00 PM.   A time of fellowship at Melvyn’s home will follow the service.  Private interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lebanon County Historical Society, 924 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, PA 17042.
