Marilyn J. Blazevich, 83, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Countryside Christian Community, Annville.

Born July 25, 1932 in Juniata, Altoona, she was a daughter of the late A. Clyde and Annie (Dively) Walter.  Marilyn was a graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School.  She married Joseph D. Blazevich on September 10, 1952 and he passed away shortly after they celebrated their 50th anniversary.  She was also preceded in death by her son Timothy N. Blazevich and her sisters Helen Johnson, Jeanne Weyant, and Pauline Suter.

Before devoting her life to her family, Marilyn was a bookkeeper at the former Klevan’s Department Store, Claysburg.  She was a member and devoted church pianist at Lower Claar Church of the Brethren, having served for over 30 years.  An animal lover, she and her husband adopted many stray dogs.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, trivia and Jeopardy, but especially treasured her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter Beth A., wife of Brian Carn of Middletown; grandchildren Lauren, wife of Brett Thackara of Elizabethtown, Melissa Carn of Brooklyn, New York, and Timothy Carn of Middletown; great grandson Marshall Thackara; several nieces and nephews.

Per Marilyn’s request for no services, a private graveside service will be held at Upper Claar Cemetery, Claysburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, PA 16602.
