Jay A. Schreckengast

Jay A. Schreckengast, 77, of South Londonderry Township passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.

Jay was born March 10, 1940 in Bellaire, Dauphin County. He was the son of the late Paul and Cora (Smith) Schreckengast.  He was also preceded in death by siblings Paul Schreckengast, Mary Bailey, Bernice Evans, and Anna Mae Schreckengast.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years Kathleen (Carmany) Schreckengast; sons Randy, husband of Lori Schreckengast of Palmyra and Brian, husband of Leslie Schreckengast of Morgantown, PA; twin brother John Schreckengast of Palmyra; sister Betty Rhine of Fontana; and grandchildren Katelyn, Zachary, Joshua, and Julia Schreckengast. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was a 1958 graduate of Hershey High School and retired from Hess Trucking Company.  In his retirement he enjoyed traveling, attending Penn State football games, watching NASCAR, and working outdoors.  He also loved spending time with his friends and family, especially attending his grandchildren’s many sports and activities.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra with interment in Campbelltown United Christian Cemetery.  Viewings 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Tuesday at the church.
