Janet M. Eckert, 80, of Palmyra passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Londonderry Village, Palmyra.
Born September 18, 1937 in Palmyra, she was a daughter of the late Mervin C. and Mildred (Neidig) Hetrick, the widow of U. Glenn “Sock” Eckert since February 2000, and also preceded in death by siblings Dale N. Hetrick, Sr., Margaret E. “Peggy” Hetrick, and Carl F. Hetrick.
A lifetime member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, she was a graduate of Palmyra High School and loved playing cards with her multiple card clubs for over 40 years. She also enjoyed going out to eat, shopping, and visiting the beach at Ocean City, Maryland, but her family was her number one priority.
Surviving are her son Darrell G. Eckert of Palmyra; daughter Beth A. Eckert Hoy, wife of Eric Hoy of Palmyra; brother Harold R. Hetrick of Hershey; granddaughter Glenn M. Hoy; grandson Jonah P. Hoy; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 9:00 AM. Interment in the adjoining Gravel Hill Cemetery.
