Elwood D. “Woody” Ludwick, 83, of Palmyra passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy surrounded by his family.
Born June 1, 1933 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Norman and Edna (Neidigh) Ludwick and was also preceded in death by a sister Muriel House.
He retired from Indiantown Gap Military Reservation as a foreman in the ESC shop and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A member of Brownstone Lodge #666 F. & A.M., Palmyra Sportsmen’s Club, Central Penn Antique Arms Gun Club, and Mid-Penn Pistol Team, he was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of the Hershey Coin Club. He was renowned for his expertise as a gunsmith.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years Patricia A. (Hipp) Ludwick; daughters Kimberly L. Gingrich, Wendy L. Herr, wife of Robert Herr and Pamela J. Evans, wife of Jonathan Evans; sister Norma Behney; and his five grandchildren and great grandson whom he adored.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Friday, September 16, 2016 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra. Viewings will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday and 10:30 – 11:30 AM Friday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Thursday. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
