Elaine F. (Hope) Schneck

Elaine F. Schneck, 83, of Londonderry Village, Palmyra passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018.

Born July 2, 1934 in New Rochelle, New York, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Sylvia M. (Hosac) Hope and the widow of John F. Mallough in 2005 and C. Russell Schneck in 2011.

After relocating to Philadelphia, Elaine was educated in the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from Philadelphia High School for Girls.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Houghton College, Houghton, New York and a Masters of Education from Temple University followed by two graduate certification programs from Penn State in Special Education and Administration.  She spent her working career educating children with serious learning disabilities.

A resident of Londonderry Village for the past 19 years, she was very active in the community, volunteering in many capacities, serving on various committees and having leadership positions among her peers. 

She was a member of the Hershey Free Church where she also served in various volunteer positions – always glad to be of service.  As her health declined she attended GracePoint Evangelical Free Church, Palmyra.  She found comfort, friendship, support and great encouragement from the pastors, members and friends of both churches.

Surviving are her daughter Dawn, wife of Keith Garnes of Columbia, Missouri; sister Beverly Bergstedt of Carlsbad, California; step sons Greg Schneck of Landenberg, Rusty, husband of Joy Schneck of Exton and Scott, husband of Mary Schneck of Temple; five step grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 22, 2018 in the DiMatteo Worship Center of Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.  Private interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
