Clarence W. Skiles, 82, of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
He was born August 28, 1934 in Cokeburg to the late Clayton and Ruth (Miller) Skiles. The widower of Rose Marie Skiles in 1982 and Alma R. Ellenberger Skiles in 2015, he was also preceded in death by siblings Lloyd and Alice.
Retired from Hershey Foods Corporation, he was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Men. Clarence was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and lifetime member of the Shellsville VFW #9639 and Hummelstown American Legion #265. A member of the Brownstown Lodge No. 666 F. & A. M., he was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his children Jeff, husband of Kathy Skiles of Hershey, Lynne, wife of Jesse Shertzer of Hummelstown, Lee, husband of Debby Ellenberger of Middletown, Brian, husband of Pam Ellenberger of Chalfont, Luke, husband of Cindy Ellenberger of Hershey, Daniel, husband of Anita Ellenberger of Stevens, and Eric, husband of Terri Ellenberger of Hubert, NC; siblings Shirley, Carol, Ronald, and Sonny; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his church, 165 Firehouse Road, Grantville preceded by a viewing beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Hummelstown Cemetery.
