Alvin H. McCorkle, 89, formerly of Grandview Road, Hummelstown and recently of Traditions of Hershey and ManorCare, Elizabethtown passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born August 31, 1926 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Harvey and Ada (Smith) McCorkle. He was the widower of Phyllis (Greenawalt) McCorkle since September 1997 and was also preceded in death by siblings John, Howard, David, Simon, Joseph, Martha, and Carrie.
Retired from Suburban Propane, he had been co-owner of A.H. McCorkle Bottled Gas Service, Hummelstown and worked for E.B. Smith Hardware, Hummelstown. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Dela-Ches Fishing Association, Lawn. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Philippines and occupied Japan.
Surviving are his sons Jeffrey A. McCorkle and wife Rhonda of Finksburg, Maryland and Kevin H. McCorkle of Hummelstown and girlfriend Cindy Railing; brothers Paul and James; sisters Anna Shaeffer, Mabel Deppen, Jeannette Vozzella, and Janice Trimble; grandsons Ross, Andrew, and Alex.
A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Buse Funeral Home, 2 East Main Street, Hummelstown with interment in Broadview Cemetery, Hershey. Viewings 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday and 10:00 – 10:30AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
